Vision of Mana is the latest mainline game of the Mana series after 18 years (Dawn of Mana/2006). So franchises that don’t get much attention anymore could come back. What franchise that have ended or don’t get much attention from their publishers would you like to see come back?

Emphasis on the Trigger. Cross was a good game but not a good sequel.

I loved Trigger due to its simplistic story. Cross took that and went crazy convoluted.

If they did a sequel, I wouldn’t want the same characters as your main (or maybe just Robo or Glenn). I think you should meet the OG cast, but it should a new experience in the same world.

Many people go back and play CT semi-religiously, like rereading a favorite book over and over again, perhaps once a year (or so).

CC not so much. Yeah it wasn’t “bad” just… it’s really hard to measure up to the greatest RPG game of all time:-).

Another Eden was kind of a spiritual successor to CT, and even made by some of the same people - it has time travel, even branching out to include alternate realities, and all kinds of techno-weirdness.:-) However, it’s also a greedy ga(t)cha mobile game that tries its very hardest to get you to spend money, even if you have already spent a great deal. Essentially the game itself becomes an advertisement (for spending), sorta like how Netflix works in moving pictures (sometimes with sound) into every single place it can in its player, despite how you pay for the service bc it “doesn’t have ads”.:-(

Anyway, even aside from that, while AE contains some fantastic stories, it’s also incredibly long, and still doesn’t hold a candle to CT, despite having essentially some of the same characters - e.g. a talking sword-wielding frog whose name is definitely not Glenn hint hint nudge nudge wink. It’s also enormously grindy, even if you pay money to vastly shorten it.

CT was definitely something special, for its time, and we will not see its like again anytime soon I suspect - capitalism offers what is most profitable to sell, not what would be best for us to have.

This is hard to get a return with no japan studio and sony that doesn’t create jrpg’s at all. But i root for you.

I like to hope that Clair Obscur Expedition 33 will do gangbusters and rekindle interest in bringing something like this about.

Skies of Arcadia. I would take a sequel, a prequel, a remake, a remaster, anything. I just want more.

If I recall correctly, the head of the team that made it was asked about the possibility of a follow up many years after it came out and said that the team just didn’t have the talent to make a worthy sequel. I respect that, but it still sucks.

Some new version of the original is coming. Wish they’d just announce it already.

I would like to see a new Valkyrie Profile game. Not something like Valkyrie Elysium, that is for sure some different kind of game. A modern approach of it would be nice.

Something in the Chrono Trigger canon.

Unfortunately, I dont think it could happen anymore as all the people that made the original have mostly left Square to retire or start their own companies.

A Xenogears remaster is still at the top of my list.

For a dead franchise, Suikoden is still my favorite JRPG world, but I don’t think anyone’s bringing that magic back at this point. Eiyuden was a fine game, but even that didn’t have the parts of Suikoden I liked most. I guess I wish I had an alternate timeline where Murayama wasn’t pushed out of Konami.

Xenogears is top of mine as well. Hell I’d even take a remaster with minor QOL improvements, but all I really want is additional content to cover disc 2.

Quest64 for sure. I’d even go for a decompilation project!

Most of my favorite games fall in this category. I’d love to see another game like any of these:

    • The Last Remnant
    • Radiant Historia
    • Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor
    • Final Fantasy Tactics Advance *¹
    • Magical Starsign

*¹ I know it is unpopular, but I much prefer Advance to FFT. I do not like permadeath and just couldn’t get into FFT - it had so many missions you could lose before even getting a turn in because you had to protect some suicidal AI that get’s killed off right at the start. I stopped playing after the ranged blonde guy got himself killed about 30 times - fully aware it will only get worse. Like the softlock (if you save) double mission on the roof later on. The story might be better, but the gameplay isn’t.

I would love to play a Final Fantasy VI remake in 3D keeping true to Yoshitaka Amano’s designs. It doesn’t need to be realistic like FFVII Remake or Rebirth. Something more artistic like the design of Dissidia NT.

I’d want it turn-based still but with a bit more action. Think Rebirth but with more emphasis on equipment, setup and strategy and less on action/movement/dodging.

I would also stay true to the charm and bugs of the original. Do not remove the ability to suplex a particular transportational device.

And don’t change the story. Only add to it while considering if any additions would change the overall feel. Too often when minor details are changed or enhanced, they can give a different feeling to overall theme. (Think Han shot first or Snow White forcing chores on everyone else vs. the original).
