In the following situations, consumers are not entitled to refunds except under very limited circumstances:

Non-refundable tickets - Consumers who purchase non-refundable tickets are not entitled to a refund unless the airline makes a promise to provide a refund or the airline cancels a flight or makes a significant schedule change.

    So that was a lie

Every airline I have purchased even nonrefundable tickets from has been willing to refund it no questions asked within 24 hours.

VITAL caveat: This DOESN’T APPLY if you’re going through Kayak or whatever. Just buy direct from the airline. I learned this the hard way.

Yeah but some resellers like kayak offer 48 hour refunds.

Its very useful for those annoying border control agents that insist you have an exit flight for your one-way journey. Just cancel it after entry.

You need to read further down the list.

The 24 hour cancellation requirement is listed further down. It’s not a lie. It’s just just means…

Any ticket, whether or not it’s cancelable or not, is required by the airline to allow you a full refund within 24 hours of purchase.

This does NOT apply if your flight is within 7 days or if you buy through a third party.
