An Ottawa Valley man says he’s been left confused and frustrated after buying tickets for a Flair Airlines flight that didn’t exist and having to fight for months to get a refund.

This happened to my friends. They bought tickets, the flight got cancelled, they never got informed, they continued to get regular flight reminders, including a week before the “flight” and a reminder the night before to check in. They chose not to check in online, went to the airport, and were told at the check in desk that the flight didn’t exist. Not just the flight, the route. The route they were flying no longer existed, and they still got notifications. Ridiculous.

Oh, and the kicker… they got emails afterwards asking them to rate the flight!

The entire airline industry in Canada needs to be gutted and rebuilt from the ground up. This is just straight up theft. Most of the crap Air Canada nd WestJet pull are just straight up theft.

Air Canada still owes me for a cancelled flight from a few years ago. They gave me the run around for a while, and then big life things happened that took all my time and energy.

Flair was the one who flew from Toronto to Saskatoon, realized it couldn’t land because of construction (even tho they should have known) turned around and landed in Winnipeg. Kept everyone on the plane for 10 hrs, with no food and only water from the bathroom (not potable). Then flew everyone back to Toronto instead of their destination. RCMP had to be called in Winnipeg because people were pissed after 10 hrs.

No kidding. Hopefully they are compensated for any extra costs. Flair should have been responsible for getting them to their destination.

I think we’re close to getting a (new?) rights document for air travellers. I think I heard this morning that we’re in the “feedback from the plebes” stage, and I worry that airline people will be masquerading/paying to look like honest plebes and have their understandably biased opinion govern how flying looks to the rest of us.

        So.

        1. rejoice that we have an opportunity
        2. if possible, make your logical needs known
        3. keep hammering any MLAs you do

Let’s get this sensible again. Now that WJ has sunk to AC levels, we’re stuck shopping for an Iceland or BA flight.

Only he did go to Florida later that day and it cost far more than his original flight. Its not exactly easy to cancel an entire vacation last minute.
