I think you mean “theocracy,” not an ethnostate. There are Jews of all ethnicities.
I spoke directly with a self-identified Zionist who specifically said Israeli is an ethnicity, same with Hebrew, and we want to establish a state where we are the majority, and specifically called it an ethnostate. They didn’t make any extremist claims otherwise. They believed in a two state solution. But they want Israel to be an ethnostate
Was this Zionist in any way representing Israel, or just a random extremist?
I have a hard time believing a Jew doesn’t realize that Jews are among all ethnicities.
I would not claim they represent Israel alone. However their words and those of Israelis from interviews in Zions Square line up with genocidal rhetoric aimed at creating an ethnostate.
I’m not disagreeing with you, I just think the term ethnostate is a misapplication.
A vaguely democratic theocracy is a better descriptor in my mind.
I don’t agree. I think ethnostate is the correct term for what they are trying to establish. They see Palestinians as incompatible with their state.
But again, Jews are all ethnicities and Arabs (of which Palestinians are) are the largest minority within Israel.
I understand that complicates the world view a little bit, bit I’m sorry, your world view needs to account for a little more complication.
It’s not my world view. It’s Israel’s current goal. I understand that Jews are all ethnicities. However, Israel wants to be a country only for ethnic Israelis.
Only for ethnic Israelis?
Part of the argument you guys are making is that the reason for the genocide is that they need the land so that they can bring even more Jews in to live.
I’m sorry, but I think you just haven’t thought this through in full.
