Survivorship bias, cared for stuff dies as well, there will always be outliers in both categories.

Also depends a lot on what you’re working with. Selling the same product ten times over makes the manufacturer more money. Which is why modern products are often made not to last, no matter how much you take care of them
You can always buy the more expensive equipment that lasts longer, but it can also break. $500 for it to last 5-10 years or $50 for it it to last 3-5.
Sorry, one is far more cost effective than the other. Things are cheap since it’s made with cheap materials to be affordable. It doesn’t mean it can’t also last 10 years, it’s just less likely. But you will almost always save money this way.
We’re talking less like 500$ vs $50 and more like 150$ vs $50. And good products can last 40+ years, not just a decade
I am no expert, but it does appear that the car has had a bit of body work done on it. I began thinking about the “Ship of Theseus.” How much of that car really is still that same car? How much restoration work was done on the car to get it in that condition?
It’s had 2 engine replacements, 3 trannies, every panel has been replaced by accidents, the interior was gutted from a flood. Only original piece is the frame, but even than it has more welds than original pieces.
Except open countryside. Gotta slap some wooden buildings on that land
