Most fun when someone says a kid “could not have done” something by themselves… Kids are smarter than people give them credit for, they figure shit out. They just lack experience.
My daughter is four now, but I was always blown away even at age two by just how present and human she already was. Her English was spotty, sure… But the kid was clever, hilarious, empathetic, supportive, and she knew how to meme. She’s infinitely better at these things now, but it was there. It was beyond what I had imagined a kid that young could be. Before having your own you’re typically pretty limited in exposure to them, and in passing it’s easy to just perceive other people’s kids as dumb. But you spend enough time with one of them and you realize that’s a fucking person in there.
As a father I always love a good dumb-fuck who has had little to no exposure to what toddlers are actually like.
