It won’t get seized and trump will never pay for what he’s done. That’s the world we live in, and it’s no use pretending anything like justice exists here.

Yeah, after yesterday I have just lost all hope. Nothing will ever happen to that horrible human being.

Sad and perverse, but true. If it was you or I facing such charges, we’d already have been screwed, boo’ed, tattooed, and tossed into jail years ago without hesitation. But this is trump, and he is truly wonderful and magical.

Nothing the government will do at the very least. When it comes to fascism and fascists, if it wasn’t for mob justice, we wouldn’t have any justice at all.

He did have to post that $100 million bond for the woman he raped - we’ll see the follow through, but that’s the most recent escalation in tangible consequences that he’s seen. That was real and it happened. He couldn’t completely worm out of it, it’s a first crack that hopefully leads to a sinkhole

Well that’s one good thing anyway, at least he did have to pay for that little indiscretion. But he still denies it ever happened.

I think he’s a walking sinkhole, so - let’s hope he just keeps going down more and more into his own insanity.

I’ve never known a guilty person who claimed to be guilty of what they’ve done. With trump, I truly believe he doesn’t even have the education to see why he is guilty or SHOULD feel bad about what he’s done. But he’ll never go to prison, more’s the pity - all we can hope is has a massive heart attack and soon.

I think everyone is just hoping he has a heart attack and drops dead before anyone needs to take action one way or the other.

It would only take a few election cycles before a new fascist becomes the favorite of the right. Trump dropping dead would absolutely not mean the end of fascism in this country. He is a symptom, not the cause.

It’s not just Trump, though he is by far the most symptomatic of the problem. It’s almost everyone with a modicum of power. They all (ab)use their positions to get as much as they can. Trump is just exceptionally good at this, on a high level. Seeing this day after day after day, in your own life… that kills all hope it will ever get better. The only people who thrive are the ones willing to walk over others’ corpses to the very top.

This society rewards psychotic and megalomaniacal personalities and punishes helpful, sharing, caring people at EVERY turn.

How could this not turn out a disaster? We’re literally forcing the evolution of evil to rule us in this system.

I think that’s very true, we are forcing on ourselves the evolution toward evil as a prime characteristic for success. Especially in the political world, where nowadays candidates don’t even try to hide the fact that they are white nationalists or bigots, knowing they can get into positions of power just by being such people.

In Utah our governor just declared that “Diversity and inclusion are the worst evils mankind has ever known.” If that isn’t a symptom of a sick culture hell bent on driving itself toward extinction, I don’t know what is.

The problem is the entire system we operate under.

It needs to be destroyed and replaced with something new because as it stands it’s unequal to the core and has no self-interest in fixing its abuses of power.

Pretending it’s not our reality is delusion.

It’s delusion to think that any effort to change the system is in vain and we might as well tune out in despair. We are both saying the same thing, but I refuse to give in to cynicism and not make an effort, even if the chances of making meaningful change are meager.

The system is working as designed, it cannot be changed. It needs to be replaced entirely. Just as we didn’t change monarchies, we beheaded them and put in something better

I agree: -The system cannot be changed from within, because it simply will never allow it. Capitalism will co-opt EVERYTHING, including subcultures AGAINST capitalism. That is why you can now buy ripped clothing in stores.

-We only beheaded a very few monarchists (France mostly). The others are still there mostly, embedded in whatever “modern” system ostensibly replaced them. Look at the UK, Belgium, Thailand, … Even countries that turned republics still have Rothschilds and the like in their governments, even though they were “elected”.

There’s a quote from Ursula K LeGuin about how the ancient Right of Kings seemed inescapable, and that we will one day do the same with capitalism. I don’t believe in it, because capitalism is much more sinister and capable than the old monarchies ever were.

Doomerism definitely has its advantages, such as always being right when things turn out as predicted.
