  • I don’t disagree that people should have to have some sort of proof for extended leave over 5 days, especially if the employer has paid sick leave above the 5 day minimum.

I worked a union job and someone I worked with was sick every second Friday, forcing us to do all of his work, and all of it was paid because we had pretty decent sick time coverage. There was never any sick note requirement. He was definitely a using it. Employer didn’t really care much cause it was his sick pay but everyone else who had to do his work instead definitely held a grudge and planned on doing the work since it was so predictable.

The prestige of a journal is ranked based on how often it gets cited (or in other words, how influential the papers are within the journal).

Wouldn’t this mean that other smaller journals could still publish the random common boring studies and then pretty much everyone would be citing those, since the boring stuff like “Trees consume carbon dioxide” would be cited a lot more than specific stuff like “Molecule XX2 can affect the brain development of Augustus caesarius if introduced between the ages of 3 and 6 months” and than become super prestigious?

  • It’s a good tactic because whatever lies the Whitehouse comes up with to defend against the first few leaked things might be countered by the next few leaked things. They have no idea what is available to be leaked next so have to be careful what they say.

If it all came out at once they would know exactly what they have to work with when crafting their story.

As well, coming out a little bit at a time means people can focus and pay attention to the details, discuss it.

If 20,000 emails were all of a sudden leaked hardly anyone would care because no one would be talking about the same things at the same time and the details get lost

  • I don’t think a content provider should be allowed to have more than 5-10% of their content be advertisements.

Website screen space, newspapers, tv channels, etc

Instagram shouldn’t have more than 1-2 sponsored post for every 20 posts. At the moment it seems closer to 10.

An hour long TV slot shouldn’t have more than 3-6 minutes of advertisement. At the moment it’s closer to 20-30.

  • Windows has had a bug that’s driven me mad since before Windows 10 and it doesn’t seem they have any intentention to fix it.

When I try to rename files, I always click somewhere in the text of the name or highlight a specific portion, and then 90% of the time RIGHT before I start typing to add or change the name, it randomly highlights the entire thing so the whole text gets replaced instead of the one section I wanted to change.

INFURIATING and it’s been years that it’s happened, between two different versions of Windows!

There’s also another 2 or 3 other bugs that are just as infuriating but I don’t imagine will ever be fixed or changed because why the fuck would microsoft care.
