Diets are highly species specific, but mosquitos are generally less than 3% of the diet for most birds and bats. Too small, don’t fly around at the correct time of day/night, and pretty agile, so they aren’t supper important for most birds and bats.

Also, usually they hatch in the billions all at once and die within a few weeks so there’s a very limited amount of time that they even can be preyed on as food. Their strategy (many of them, not all species) is to overwhelm any predators with numbers.

I don’t know, to me a * b * c is basically just the exact same as abc but just easier to type on a computer. If you were writing it down on paper or a black board they would probably use dots. Coding often uses * because who wants to type in those dots would be a pain in the ass and the * basically looks the closest to a dot.

It’s too bad there isn’t a way to just have one location for everyone to create an account, like a lemmy.com, and then the last step during account creationg is to select your preferred instance for the account, maybe from like a drop down list that has a small blurb about the rules and expectations for that instance and a list of top 10 hosted communities, and maybe even a random choice option, and then you can go back to that main area to switch your instance later if need be.

  • That’s pretty silly if the contractor doesn’t need to have some sort of certification. Anyone can go build a house without knowing what they are doing and then 10 years down the line no one knows who built it when things start to fall apart, or who to blame, and the contractor probably keeps building things wrong the entire time.
