It’s gonna take two months to build the pier.

Countless will starve to death by then, and it seems like a forgone conclusion Israel is going to claim it’s not safe to let Gaza control it.

They’ll seize the port, and a stretch of land connecting it to Israel.

If Biden really wanted to do something now, he’d send US military with the aid trucks.

It’s the only way to prevent Israel from attacking the aid

        What?

American military escorting American aid isn’t a military action against Israel

Israel claims they can’t let aid trucks in because Hamas will steal it.

American escort means Israel can’t use that excuse, and if Israel attacks it, they’d be attacking the American military.

That isn’t a military action against Israel in any way shape and form.

Israel apologized for the attack, saying that the USS Liberty had been attacked in error after being mistaken for an Egyptian ship.[5] Both the Israeli and U.S. governments conducted inquiries and issued reports that concluded the attack was a mistake due to Israeli confusion about the ship’s identity.[6] Others, including survivors of the attack, have rejected these conclusions and maintain that the attack was deliberate.[7][8]

In May 1968, the Israeli government paid US$3.32 million (equivalent to US$28 million in 2022) to the U.S. government in compensation for the families of the 34 men killed in the attack. In March 1969, Israel paid a further $3.57 million ($28.5 million in 2022) to the men who had been wounded. In December 1980, it agreed to pay $6 million ($21.3 million in 2022) as the final settlement for material damage to the ship plus 13 years of interest

            From your source.

It is misinformation to claim they faced no punishment. They accepted blame and paid retribution.

I’m not going to comment on if the compensation is appropriate to the crime.

2002, Captain Ward Boston, JAGC, U.S. Navy, senior counsel for the Court of Inquiry, said that the Court of Inquiry’s findings were intended to cover up what was a deliberate attack by Israel on a ship that the Israelis knew to be American.

They objectively paid a sum of over 60 million in today’s value for 1. The killed soldiers, 2. The wounded soldiers, and 3. The damaged materials.

It is objectively false to claim they suffered no consequences.

The argument for escorting aid in is because Israel will attack it… So what is the logical outcome of Israel attacking a US guarded convoy?

We are not going to put our people in that situation.

That still wouldn’t be a military action against Israel, and no American troops would be in Israel territory.

What you’re saying is that Israel would view preventing their genocide against Palestinians as an attack on them and then be “forced” to attack the US troops…

Israel would have to decide if they want to attack US military members to stop aid.

I’m not talking about hiding one soldier in a crate for a “gotcha”. I mean a loud and proud military escort of aid. Something that is 100% normal regardless of it’s a war zone or not.

I’ve spent 6 months of my life doing exactly this, lots more doing other stuff in the military.

I know what I’m talking about.

Not to mention, by your logic that would make Bidens plan to build a single pier over two months a military action as well…

Never had a problem with him.

And I’ve DMed him about mod questions before and he’s been super helpful.

Sometimes we disagree, but no one agrees 100% of the time.

I do think mods should have to at least report comments first so when they’re removed it shows in the mod log. But I seriously doubt he’s removing comments just for disagreeing with him.

I’ve seen some really down voted comments from him, with lots of people disagreeing. If he did what you said, I’d never see that.

Again, if any of that were true, I would have already done so. The fact of the matter is, you have a right to be incredibly wrong. You haven’t actually broken the rules.

Now, someone rolls in with some tin-foil hattery, vaccine denial, election denial? Yeah, that’s going to get removed and likely banned. I won’t lose sleep over it.

There are others that get removed that I legit feel bad over. Good stories that are important and need to be seen, just not in this group.

You see that one today about the Lego Police Officers? Freakin’ brilliant that is. I hope it gets re-posted somewhere that allows image posting.

The US? Oh, absolutely. We’ve been protecting and justifying Israel’s bad behavior for decades now.

The analogy I like to use is Israel is the shitty little kid on the playground who thinks he can get away with anything because “my big brother can beat you up!”

It’s going to keep happening until big brother steps aside and lets him get his nose bloodied.

Genocide sounds way cuter when you use a children’s analogy. We’re all adults here so we don’t need cutesy analogies though. Joe Biden structured arms deals in a way that wouldn’t meet the minimum amount for congressional oversight, in order to enthusiastically deliver weapons being used in a genocide. A genocide that’s obvious to us commoners should be fucking pretty obvious to the person with the most military intelligence in the world. So, either he’s stupid as fuck, or an evil son of a bitch.

Either way, he needs to face justice.

Technically they don’t have to finish the pier, we have vehicles made to transport marines and even tanks from sea to land. Even without our amphibious units, in May 2023 the USA had 3 ships delivering aid to shore in the Red Sea near Saudi Arabia in a shorter timespan.

The army turned Omaha Beach into a working supply area on June 7th under German artillery fire. They can make a pier in less than a week in Gaza no problem if they wanted to.

There’s a lot we could do. We could end this genocide with one phone call honestly.

The threat of abandoning Israel and withdrawing our forces in the area would make Israel agree to anything. They just know Biden isn’t willing to do anything close to that.

We’re talking about what Biden is willing to do in the timeline Biden is willing to do it in.

And that’s 2 months for the US military to build a pier.

Hell we don’t even need a pier.

A LHD has a fucking hovercraft, helicopters, and can hold an insane amount of supplies.

I spent a couple years on one, and even did aid missions like this before.

We might not be able to provide electricity and water without pier connections, but we don’t need a pier to provide packaged aid.

I really don’t believe that’s true. I think Israel’s leaders have lost their goddamn minds and they’d be willing to end themselves and the rest of the Middle East in nuclear fire if it came down to it, which it probably would if the U.S. decided to wash their hands of Israel.

If I had to lay a bet, it’s that the pier is the beginning of a US outpost in Gaza, as a check to Israeli expansion.
