Fedora just refuses to removes protected packages. The only way to unprotected a package is to delete a file with its name in /etc/dnf/protected.d/ sort of directory.
Really cool, it’s a shame, though, that such an important figure has to go through that in order for such an obvious bug to be (not quite, though) fixed.

What IDE would you like instead and what’s wrong with vscode, apart from it being an Electron application? Did you know there’s vscodium as Free alternative?

and you’re right the electron aspect isn’t ideal.
but you’re also right, what is a good replacement? tbh i think this shows a bit of a gap which i really hope can be filled with something appropriate soon.
i’m a big fan of geany, but definitely understand it doesn’t fill the use case for alot of users.
