“Copie Publique” grant program for FLOSS: €3000 grant to support Lemmy
French worker-owned company @codelutin invest 3333 € to support the #threadiverse development. 3000 € will go to Lemmy while 333 € will go to #kbin.
@copiepublique is a french alliance of companies who pledged to support FLOSS via profit-sharing. If you are a french company, join the alliance! ✊
I only wonder why it’s 3333€.
@andrew_bidlaw long story short, it’s due to our way to democratically split our budget.
We take 1% of our sales. That’s ~ €17k
€10k of the budget go to the firsts “winners” of a vote we have internally. We had 3 winners so the €10k was split in 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 so €5k was attributed to @panoramax €3333 to support the threadiverse and €1666 for https://www.hackinscience.org/
@lemmy
Thank you for answering and honest cheers on doing that. I don’t think people behind these projects have enough support or credit. And as little as 1.3k can be seen in IT, it goes directly into supporting their passion projects benefiting us as a whole (:
@andrew_bidlaw you would be surprised. Many projects are so short on money that you can make people so happy. Sometimes, even giving 100€ was life-changing for some people we supported 😲
@lemmy
Indeed. If only I wasn’t in fucking russia. It feels like FOSS suporting may finally lead me to learning crypto, in non speculative ways, only to support what these chads are doing. The Atlants, bearing the world I can regularly shitpost to on their shoulders.

Long story short, we had 3333 € for the #threadiverse. We wanted to split between both but kbin is younger, as much less adoption, Ernest expressed a bus-factor (which is now solved given last month activity), and there is now a kbin fork. So, while sending the message to Ernest we support him, we have a stronger trust for lemmy which is more mature/popular. The rest is just making number rounds.
