I want to downvote this because it makes me angry, but I don’t want to harm the person who posted it. Ugh! (didn’t downvote)
The decision is literally only that NordPost needs to deliver the plates. Nothing else has been decided. Still no dock workers, electricians, cleaners, etc. only that plates must be delivered. Which doesn’t mean much if the vehicles aren’t being offloaded at your ports.
PostNord will not deliver. Tesla are allowed to go and pick up the plates themselves from the manufacturer
The court literally told them they need to. I’m on the worker’s side here, but the court said what they said.
No, it is two different lawsuits. Tesla are allowed to temporarily pickup the plates themselves from the manufacturer. The lawsuit against PostNord is different, PostNord-union are still blocking deliveries, as they should.
Ok, I think I see where I misunderstood what’s happening.
… and the transport agency refused to deliver the plates by other means, saying it was contractually bound to use PostNord.
However, Norrkoping district court ruled the agency must get the plates to Tesla within seven days or pay a fine of 1 million Swedish crowns
So basically the transport agency says they are required to use PostNord, PostNord workers are refusing to deliver plates for Tesla for solidarity, and the court has said that the transport agency must deliver plates. I initially read it last night as PostNord was told they had to deliver the plates for the transport agency or face a fine, but that’s clearly not true after a second reading. Thanks for pointing that out!
The question I have now is, if the transport agency of Sweden is contractually obligated to use PostNord, how do they get around this issue? I guess I would have assumed there’s an option for a business to retrieve their plates directly from the authority, but perhaps not? And what happens to plates that were already in PostNord’s possession? I’m looking forward to seeing how all of this plays out, and what other unions might join in.
No worries! This whole thing is unprecedented, so misunderstandings are to be expected.
Tesla gets around it, temporarily, by being allow by court to send their own people to pick up the plates at the manufacturer of the plates while the claim is being settled.
I think the normal rutine for any postal company is to “return to sender” when unable to deliver, but that is just my guess. Edit: correction, PostNord keeps all the post that is mailed to Tesla. This goes beyond the licenses plates and includes other mail also, I assume only the license plates are regarded as business critical at this point for Tesla.

Oy! That’s PostNord to you, not NordPost mister! Only we can call our shitty postal service a variety of slurs!

Hah, sorry!
So the workers of NordPost aren’t allowed to participate in this strike? Doesn’t seem right to me to take away this right from them.
They absolutely are. Transportstyrelsen are the ones who need to find a way to deliver the plates or face fines. PostNord may be state owned but it’s still run like a company and the workers are union members.
Sounds like the Swedish courts are having a bit of…

Oh, good to know! I hadn’t really considered that. Thanks!
This is not exactly true and just now the court ruled that Postnord does not need to do it yet.
We’ll need to wait a few days until we know for sure what will happen. But for now Postnord does not need to deliver the license plates to Tesla.

It should be noted that the court only ruled that Tesla should be allowed to pick up the plates themselves from the manufacturer.
A different court said today that the postal company PostNord doesn’t have to deliver the licence plates that PostNord already has picked up from the manufacturer, which they usually do at the end of each day.
If I remember correctly Tesla is mainly concerned about the 20 or so plates that are currently stuck in the postal network.
PostNord has 3 days to make a statement and then the court will take it up again and make a decision.
The Union is happy about the decision.

+ An interview with PostNord and Seko and someone else I can’t remember.
I mean, I don’t support Tesla in any way but they should be allowed to pick up their plates from PostNord if they refuse to deliver them.
They have property that isn’t theirs, they may not have to deliver it but they can’t just keep it.
I agree, but the warehouse workers are probably also in the union so I don’t know how that would work.
Can’t have unauthorized people rummaging about att the postal centre
This is the best summary I could come up with:
STOCKHOLM, Nov 27 (Reuters) - A court in Sweden ruled on Monday the country’s transport authority must find a way to get licence plates to Tesla (TSLA.O) that are being blocked by postal workers, the Aftonbladet newspaper reported.
However, Norrkoping district court ruled the agency must get the plates to Tesla within seven days or pay a fine of 1 million Swedish crowns ($95,000).
Union IF Metall put mechanics on strike on Oct. 27, refusing to service Tesla’s cars because the company would not accept collective bargaining.
Tesla has a policy of not signing collective bargaining agreements and says its employees have as good, or better, terms than those demanded by IF Metall.
Tesla, in its court filing, called the transport agency’s decision not to let it pick up the licence plates “a unique attack on a company operating in Sweden”.
Seko, the union that organised the PostNord workers, told Reuters an easy solution for Tesla was to sign the collective bargaining agreement with IF Metall.
The original article contains 345 words, the summary contains 166 words. Saved 52%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
says its employees have as good, or better, terms than those demanded by IF Metall
If their terms are just as good then what’s wrong with signing the demanded terms?
They couldn’t just unilaterally alter the agreement anymore at a later date.
STOCKHOLM
The decision was made by a court in Norrköping, where the filling was made and where the hearing will be had. Stockholm had nothing to do with this.
Uhm you know that just says that this article comes from Reuters Stockholm. I doubt they have an office in Norrköping
The courts can say whatever they like. Doesn’t mean the boycott is gonna end. There’s tons of ways to “do your job” creatively without actually doing your job.
