‘The benchmark doesn’t apply anymore,’ says financial advisor Bruce Sellery (Maryse Zeidler/CBC News)
I am paraphrasing:
“Just accept that the vast majority of Canadians won’t be able to live with only one income. You should get more than one job, have roommates, and also have no non-essential expenditures.”
“Our benchmark says that people can’t afford housing. Let’s change the benchmark, then, so more people who couldn’t qualify before can now get a loan.”
That won’t add risk. No way.
