I know it ruins the joke to ask, but is this a satire page?
Do people unironically still use the word “woke”?

On a scale from “workers own everything” to “capitalists own everything” I think we’re not in much danger of moving very leftwards at any point in the near future.

Frankly, there’s not much farther right you can go. We’ve already got multiple forms of slavery to extract worker value for the capitalist trough, and rampaging fascism threatening to take over the public sphere to enrich them further.

Ah yes, the ‘woke’ economy I keep hearing about.

I was referring to the recent trend of gender/race swapping characters in media solely for the sake of diversification and inclusion.

God forbid our media accurately represents the diverse society we live in, eh?

I don’t have an issue with that. I take issue when stuff is shoe-horned in that makes no sense for the plot or the character just to satisfy diversity. Having an incredibly diverse cast made perfect sense for a show like “The Expanse”, and it was better for it. Rebooting an old IP and changing the main character from a white male into a black lesbian just to check off some boxes makes zero sense at all.

Go on being the poster child for why subs like this get created though.

Oh, don’t get your panties up in a bunch. You people get SUPER BIG MAD when a non-white person is cast in a “white” role, but somehow the other way around is just fine with you.

I’d wager there are more places where eg a lily-white Brit is cast in a place that should have had a different ethnicity, overall. It’s silly, but whatever. Use your imagination a little, or grant the author some leeway to play with the casting to see what happens. I don’t think you need to invoke some giant grand conspiracy when artistic license is enough.

I mean, lots of people would cast Yeshua ben Nazareth as a white blond dude instead of a very dark middle-eastern Palestinian Jew.

              You people?

Name some examples, and I’ll tell you why I enjoyed or didn’t enjoy the movie/show. I know there was a big controversy over the cast of “Aloha”, which I didn’t see, and I don’t disagree with the complaints.

I think the all-female version of Ghostbusters was stupid, and yet I loved Miles Morales. I thought episode 5 of Monarch was tripe based on the fact they decided to devote a decent chunk of time to one of the characters lesbian backstory, and it had nothing to do with the plot or her character arc (so far).

I vote Liberal, support gay rights, marriage, adoption, you name it, but I’m stuck in the middle Alberta so my vote doesn’t mean shit. I work in IT and the majority of my co-workers are Indian/Asian and I have zero issues nor have I ever had a reason to complain.

And yet this is why I fucking hate “woke” people. If you don’t agree with 100% of what they say, suddenly you’re one of “those people”.

I mean, you’re the one generalizing about “woke” people, and using the word “woke” seriously pretty much disqualifies you from having an opinion straight-up. That makes you “you people” right off the bat, the people who use “woke” non-ironically.
