CANDU heavy-water nuclear reactors, in contrast with the Light Water Reactors widespread in the US, have been used in Canada since its development in the 1960s.
However, the spent fuel by-product from CANDU reactors aren’t don’t yield as much when reprocessed compared to LWR. We are planning long term storage underground somewhere in Buttfuck, Ontario.
So anyways, all this to say this video is about another one of those uniquely American problems. Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima are incidents we can learn from and have gotten people scared of nuclear power, but waste in my view is mostly a solved problem despite how it’s portrayed here, just give it to another country that can handle it until you can figure it out.
