  • It’s wild as a Canadian watching for sure. All international news sources are still in on the koolaid as well because they have to be. For all intents and purposes midterms will happen but behind closed doors I bet all journalists would tell you it’s gonna be like a Russian election. The fix is in. What’s laughable is no one is saying it out loud yet and Americans aren’t fighting for their democracy.

    • 1/3 of America is full in on fascism
    • 1/3 of America doesn’t give a shit
    • 11/36 of America sees it and sits on their asses
    • 1/36 of America is actively trying to stop this

  • To further your point and remembering my asinine discussions with the vendor.

Fine. I accept what they said. Then the return code should be a 5xx code not a 200.

I genuinely wonder if they addressed their fuckups.

Side note their updated desktop client (because of course new version didn’t have one so they had to write one fast) was a java client that needed 16gb of ram to run marginally well lol

  • Fun story close to a decade ago we were attempting to upgrade our batch scheduler called Tidal to version 6x which had a RESTful API.

One of the reasons we dropped the product was because we were getting 200 status codes meanwhile the output was a java dump of an error message.

They were adamant that this was an us problem, no matter how much I tried to explain to them with numerous links explaining to them that if something has a 200 status code that should mean things worked.

They argued that the 200 meant we were hitting the API fine. We would have to write code to read the return for if it was a error or not. I still don’t think they understood how stupid they were, even all these years later.

  • My parents also drive a small car. What you’re advocating for is a change to the laws. My family is from rural Ontario. Many people my parents age drive pickup trusts to tend to their farms

I may agree with you but what you’re asking for is a reclassification of vehicles to further restrict older drivers. Right now the law states they are free to drive what they want and on that item alone you’re coming across like someone who knows better and demonizing people for their choices.

Again you may not be wrong but the law and society does not currently agree with you. This gives the same energy as demonizing people who get plastic surgery because they want it.

  • Some food for thought. My parents are old. My dad is 82. Up until 2 weeks ago he was driving with no issues. His heart is now giving out and he had a spell where he went unconscious when driving and drove into a bean field with my mum.

The point is sometimes shit happens and no one can predict when it will.

Can my dad drive now? No. If he does the barriers have increased drastically and involve sign off from a cardiologist as just one thing.

It’s possible there was nothing flagging this man in his 70s as being at risk to drive. Maybe, just maybe, all the doctors and pharmacists know more than you and something unexpected happened.

I’m not arrogant enough to say I’m gifted nor am I bi but I get it.

I guess some of us have less of an axe to grind with the world which may be part of the nurture part of “nature vs. nurture”

I struggled as a kid fitting into the norms due to my undiagnosed ADD but I also had and have a supportive family.
