  • Thanks.

I just set up Notesnook lol I can drag and drop reorder list items (checkbox list) on the official server, but not when connected to my own… Same exact mobile app (just different server)… The fact that Notesnook and Standard Notes both claim to be open source, but don’t share all of their code with the open source world. Maybe it’s gated by env vars. Who knows. I have half a mind to give Obsidian a chance if it can do what I want.

Not sure if it’s the same on Lemmy, but on Mastodon, your blocks are definitely shared to other instances. So the instance of the user you blocked definitely stores that you’ve blocked their user. And their system admin can view if their user has been blocked (via the PostgreSQL db).

Technically, hiding your posts from your intended blockee should be doable. But someone could run a modified version of Mastodon and display content from people who have blocked them.

Or just create a new account.

I’m unsure if Lemmy is coded in this same way (storing remote blocks on instances of the blocked user).

It means Carrier unlocked. If it’s carrier locked (depends on where you’re from, what carrier it came from, and/or if it came from a plan upgrade), you may not be able to install GrapheneOS on it unless you get it unlocked first.

If you get a second hand one, make sure the person you’re buying it from is willing to help you unlock it.

First question in their FAQ: https://grapheneos.org/faq#supported-devices

Devices sold in partnership with specific carriers may be locked by the carrier, which will prevent installing GrapheneOS. This is primarily an issue with US carriers and isn't common elsewhere in the world. To avoid this, either don't buy a carrier device, or make sure it can be unlocked. It's the same hardware/firmware/software either way but carriers dislike having devices able to bypass their paywall for tethering, etc., so they disable it for the devices they sell as part of contracts.

  • I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that with IRC, you need to stay connected constantly—unless you use something like IRC Cloud or an IRC bouncer (soju, znc, etc.), which require a service or server of some sort.

I bring this up because I see a lot of people ask a question and then leave without waiting. If you want to ask a question or participate in a discussion, you’ll need to keep your IRC connection on; otherwise, you won’t see what others say while you’re disconnected.
