I am actually surprised IPFS isn’t leveraged more for this.
Ingwie Phoenix@drachennetz.comto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Sky UK/IT/DE for free and without VPN :)English3·2 years agoThis is quite neat. Been using DaddyLive to watch Bundesliga with Kodi, wrapped in some random extension… Rising Tides, I think it was?
No, just the way the Fediverse works. :)
…and, to go on a bit of a tangent, how the internet “used to” work. You still see the remnant with E-Mails; they can go between servers. Most other services have become locked and centralized now. There was a short bit of time where MSN, AIM and YIM were practically compatible with one another due to sharing many of the same XMPP protos.
Personally I am happy to see this again, been too long ^^
Ingwie Phoenix@drachennetz.comto World News@beehaw.org•Electronic Frontier Foundation shouted out Lemmy, Kbin, and Mastodon in their Reddit coverage today: What Reddit Got WrongEnglish3·2 years ago…and still won’t pay a coffee! :D
I’d chirp you a yes. Though, more for fun than anything, I have been called a “featherly” before x)
Also - if you wonder what my species is, it’s in the name and avatar v
Ingwie Phoenix@drachennetz.comto Furry Chat@yiffit.net•How has joining the furry fandom affected your life? Was it positive, negative, or did nothing of note change?English4·2 years agoI joined the furry community somewhere in 2009 - the internet was a whole different world at the time. The idea of dynamically fetching content via JavaScript was still “being explored”, in a way.
Initially, I landed on ychan/yiffy.tk and spent a great deal of time there and found many friends. I had landed there, because I was looking for something else, but found a Panty and Stockings rule34 picture and decided to dig down further into this “awkward, odd, but interesting thing”.
To make a long story short: I am german, and my english was bad. Through roleplaying and interactions I learned how to speak and write english so much and drasticaly, that I improved by magnitudes and actually wrote the school’s highest ranked final exam for graduation in my entire year. I also started to run my own community - those who remember who Karma was and what he did, might know what I mean - when the admin started to swing the ban hammer…aimlessly. xD
From there, I maintained the community all the way to 2015. Due to IRL circumstances, I had to let it go. But, it still lives on as a discord server.
In all that time, I have bought many commissions, done a boatload of roleplays, found people to pour my heart out to and find some friends that I have stuck with since. In fact, most of the core-members of the community I founded (Dragon’s Inn) are still my friends!
So yeah, the fandom gave me a lot and I will be forever thankful, which is why I keep using my phoenix icon, although I haven’t bought a commission in a while, let alone roleplayed… It just means too much to me. <3
Ingwie Phoenix@drachennetz.comto Privacy Guides@lemmy.one•What do you all use for password management?English6·2 years agoSelfhosted Vaultwarden and the Bitwarden apps.
Gives me access to all my things basically any time and anywhere. Its pretty neat. And if I don’t want it anymore, I can export the data and just nuke it - and it’s gone. :)
Ingwie Phoenix@drachennetz.comto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•OK mateys, let's talk about direct links.14·2 years agoWas thinking the same - this looks like a prime usecase for IPFS, honestly.

Ingwie Phoenix@drachennetz.comto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Do you find piracy more fun than consuming the pirated content?English11·2 years agoHonestly, the interesting tidbits you learn as you dig yourself into that rabbit hole is actually quite intriguing and fun. So yeah - I’d say it is also quite “fun” for the process itself!

Thanks for the idea!
Ingwie Phoenix@drachennetz.comto Fediverse@lemmy.ml•[solved] Subscribing to a community on a different instance is so annoying!English0·2 years agoWhen I add
!privacy@lemmy.ml
into my search field, it doesn’t show anything - in fact, it ends up telling me that there are no results. I have to then go into the Communities tab again, and hope it shows up there.I can see it doing work as I watch the logs. But this is really a little weird/frustrating. I hope this sees improvement eventually! =)
Let’s see… Just today, in their presentation for the next patch, a child character got a new outfit, and a teaser that the next archon (god) is a kid - again. xD
I sometimes wonder wtf they’re doing, ngl…
