  • People buy stuff for the image. Apple has cultivated a certain image with its branding that people are attracted to and buy their products because of it. I’ve heard it described as “People don’t buy what you make but what you are.” The image and brand of the company is often why people buy from them. Apple produces products for cool hip people, not the stuffy old guys in suits! You’re a cool person, right?

Something being expensive is often part of the image. People like to pretend they’re rich and the more expensive all their stuff is the more they can project that image. It can also be self validation. Owning expensive products can someone feel better about their lives.

  • So far he’s proposed to give more tax cuts than the Liberals. The day after the Liberals promised a $6 billion tax cut for low and middle income earners, PP promised a $14billion tax cut, without saying how he’d do it. If he cut dentalcare, pharmacare, childcare, and the CBC completely (all programs he’s described as wasteful), he’d still be $1billion short of paying for that tax cut.

He’s promised to get more homes built by cutting federal funding to cities that don’t build 15% more homes than they did last year, not charging GST on new builds, and selling government property to be converted into apartments.

Other than that his talking points are mostly about capping immigration and securing the border.
