I’m going to a local pride event in a couple weeks and a bigger event next month. I know a lot of folks are anxious to attend large pride events right now, and that’s totally understandable, but I’ll be happy to go draped in my trans flag and represent my community! I also wear my pride pins on my uniform at work all month and remind all my customers that I am in fact queer as hell thank you very much. I’ve only been out a few years so Pride means a lot to me :)

I’ve been vegetarian for just over a year now, and have no intention of going back to eating meat. The most difficult thing for me is relearning how to cook, I mostly try to find replacements for meat proteins in recipes I already know, so seitan for pork, impossible for ground beef, mushrooms for steak. But my biggest problem is chicken, for the life of me I can’t find a good replacement for chicken and my chicken based recipes are (were) some of my favorite comfort foods.

I’m also always learning completely new recipes involving veg and tofu. But I miss my chicken casseroles and chicken enchiladas dang it!

I think it would actually be pretty long and painful :(

Originally because I wanted to check it out when it first launched. I have been checking out reddit alternatives for a while and I’ve been waiting for a migration to happen from reddit, I figured they aren’t going to keep old.reddit going forever. Wasn’t expecting the api changes to happen first, but since folks are making the move I’m finally participating here because I want reddit style communities to succeed on the fediverse and there’s a lot more people here now for that to happen.

That would be really cool to see. I use Newpipe for youtube on my phone and subscribe to Nebula, I would love to see an alt take over the market share that youtube has a stranglehold over

That is so interesting. I’m not actually on Mastadon yet (still on twitter, I know…) but I can click the fediverse icon on Lemmy on your comment and see this thread on Mastadon, it takes me to sunny.garden which I assume is your mastadon instance. This is really cool lol

Yeah I’ve also been on Lemmy since before federation, just haven’t been active because of the lack of engagement in general. I’ve considered getting an invite for tildes, I will probably check it out, but most of the other alts are mostly filled with the sort of racists that reddit has been banning the last few years, so Lemmy and tildes are I think the only viable options atm.

I like Lemmy more because personally I’m a fan of shitposting and memes and Lemmy seems to support that more. I hope that the popularity of Mastadon in relation to twitter will help redditors understand what Lemmy is, and they can look past the tankie stuff. There are already instances like beehaw that arent tankie but are pretty popular. I guess I just really hope we can move on from reddit but keep the community that made reddit feel special in the early days.

Yeah the Lemmy admins said that they want people to make new instances and such, but if Lemmy were to take off I think what we’ll see is reddit communities replicated on the main instance or a currently popular alt instance like beehaw. I’m personally waiting a little bit for my favorite subs to pop up here with alternatives because I don’t have the time to mod, but I fully expect them to show up on the main instance if they show up on Lemmy at all.

OBS is the one that gets me. A lot of streamers I follow talk about how they use OBS because it’s such a reliable standard and works the way they expect. Pretty cool that an open source app is the standard for something as mainstream as livestreaming.

I also lurk a whole lot and thats my biggest issue as well. It looks like a lot of people talk about Lemmy when the topic of migrating from reddit comes up though, im hopeful that it takes off.
