Thanks so much for sharing! You gave me some good info to start looking into. I appreciate your help! I was getting a little weary of Proton when they announced the AI nonsense and now the crypto wallet really seals the deal. Doesn’t feel good knowing my money is going to develop buzzword features instead of fixing the existing issues in their current products.

Do you mind expanding on this? I recently moved away from Gmail to Proton in an attempt to be more privacy conscious and don’t really know of any alternatives. Even at a paid tier I only use Proton for their email services.
I would say I’m generally tech savvy but new to the whole privacy space. What better alternatives are there?
Myaa@beehaw.orgto Technology@beehaw.org•Exclusive: See The Ways Shady T-Mobile Stores Treat Customers And Employees7·1 year agoAs someone who has previously worked in the wireless industry for nearly a decade this is unsurprising. I worked for one of the Big 3 at a third party retailer and saw all kinds of shady things. From aggressive sales tactics to hostile management and straight up fraud. I was constantly getting in trouble with upper management because I refused to “live in the shade,” a term they used for committing knowingly unethical acts. The only reason I didn’t get fired (despite numerous threats) was because my sales numbers were always up to par. Turns out treating people with respect and keeping to your ethics was an equally effective way of hitting consistent numbers.

I’m really glad you said this. There’s a large amount of the general population who think trans and drag are the same, even people who are allies. I respect those who do drag and I can understand why they do it, but as someone who is trying to present as myself authentically instead of performatively it’s almost detrimental to the cause when those who are outside looking in automatically equate the two.
When I came out to my family as trans, my dad’s first thought was I was going to be “parading myself around like a drag queen” (his words). He voiced his concern about it, because he had no understanding that they are not the same thing. Typically when I come out to people as trans one of the first things they talk about is how I must love Ru Paul’s and assume that I watch it. I’ve never watched a full episode in my life, and truthfully it’s kind of difficult for me to watch it knowing mentally that’s how people would perceive me if I come out to them.
And while I acknowledge that there can be overlap in the community it’s not who I am, nor is it how I want to be perceived. I don’t have the luxury of “taking off” who I am, nor am I trying to be a caricature of a woman. I’m just trying to be myself and I wish more people understood that.

I’ve been looking for a simple “cyberdeck” build for awhile now. I think this one might be it. It looks like there’s quite a bit of room in the chassis, I wonder if you can fit a full Raspberry Pi in there with minimal tweaking.
You need to make sure your phone is very still before it appears. I usually will lay mine on a table or the top of a car and then tilt my head underneath it until it appears and when it does gently hit the button. I’ve gotten some pretty cool results from it like shooting stars and even the Milky Way.

I typically search for programming related things and it has difficulty pulling up relevant information regarding things like documentation and posts regarding the issue.

I had no idea that was an option but that’s super useful for things I need to type in on a device with no keyboard, or even things I can’t access my password manager for. Thanks for the protip there!

I’m also finishing upWay of Kings from Sanderson’s The Stormlight Archives and I’m thoroughly enjoying it!

Myaa@beehaw.orgto Creative@beehaw.org•Any thoughts on Adobe Lightroom's Enhance Denoise?English4·2 years agoInteresting, I didn’t know they added an enhanced denoise feature. I do astrophotography and removing noise is something astrophotographer’s constantly fight against so I’ll have to give this a shot. I’m curious how it’ll compare to something like Topaz Ai Denoise tool which does a pretty solid job.
Edited: I misread your original post and thought the 1st image was the original. I actually think it did a pretty decent job, perhaps adding a little bit too much sharpness, but overall I’m surprised at the results especially compared to its standard denoise tool.

I wonder if there’s a better breakdown as to how they were able to ascertain this. I know there’s been some major announcements in the field thanks to quasar study so I’m curious as to how this ties into that.
I’m currently involved in three different 5e campaigns!
The Scorn of Melchior: A homebrew campaign I created for my fiancee and her siblings that we play weekly! It’s my first time DMing and I’m still pretty new to DnD so it’s a bit of a learning curve! I have a lot of fun with it though!
Under the Midnight Sun: I’m playing as a College of Whispers Bard. Each session (or 2) is a new heist and we do downtime planning in between sessions. Currently running about twice a month! It’s a lot of fun, my character is very much playing a seductive street magician who relies on slight of hand more than actual magic for her tricks and uses it as an excuse to swindle her audience. Also in our canon, College of Whispers is not quite a traditional bard school and more the result of a curse that is spread to each member by a previous member.
Quaybound: A weekly guild ran out of a local board game cafe. It’s a weekly one shot with over 60+ members that rotate out with multiple DMs. It’s a lot of fun! I’m playing a Great Old Ones, pact of the tome Warlock. Since it’s weekly one shots backstory isn’t too important however I did make myself my own Shadow Tome spell book that contains all my spells and cantrips as well as character sheet that I bring with me each session to reference! It’s a lot of fun!

It seems like there’s going to be a noticeable change in the night sky! As someone who’s just getting into astrophotography, I wonder if it’s something I’ll be able to capture.
Oof, hopefully it comes sooner than it took FFXV to get ported. Although I appreciate that they release eventually I wish they would just drop it cross platform and forget about the whole console exclusivity BS.

It seems like they’re never for things only against things. Well I guess outside of the child marriage thing seems they’re pretty for that. It’s so strange to me that in 2023 the republican party has regressed into essentially a draconian early industrial revolution era roll back of rights. I mean they’re even repealing child labor laws. It’s literally like they want to remove all progress from the last couple centuries. It blows my mind that this is acceptable in our country in the era.
How did you set it up? I’ve been wanting to setup forgejo in a docker container but wasn’t sure how easy the process is.
