1·2 hours agoGetting used to a new UI can be stressful and taxing to the audhd brain. If it’s your own choice that stress and effort can be fun, it can be an adventure. But if you perceive the world around you to be forcing you into it, it feels like being attacked. 1·3 hours agoI’ll do you one better. The rich convinced the people that the fundamental nature of reality is both objective and knowable, and that it generally agrees with white people’s existing cultural biases.
And they convinced white people to spread their idea of reality, because believing in a different reality (or unreality) is some kind of moral crime.
And that’s why people hate schizophrenics, for struggling to see reality. That’s why they hate trans people, for ignoring what cis traditions see as real. That’s why they hate abolitionists and suffragetes and socialists. That’s why they hate muslims and indigenous and pagans and twospirit. That’s why they hate anyone who thinks differently than they do. For not conforming to their moralist idea of objective reality.

2·6 hours agohttps://international-review.icrc.org/articles/indigenous-australian-laws-of-war-914

Despite the quarrels of the past, we have finally – partly through Darmangeat’s work – arrived at a basic idea of the two main types of inter-tribal confrontation that occurred in Indigenous Australia. The most common, devastating warfare seems to have been stealth attacks – raids or kanudaitji (secret or revenge expeditions), for instance in the Western Deserts.40 These were usually small parties of men, but sometimes scores or more, who would sneak deep into enemy territories to commit assassinations or theft (usually of women).41 In contrast to raids there existed what we can call open, regulated battles (some prefer the word “tournaments”), which were much more formalized and lengthy events, involving anywhere from 60 to over 1,500 combatants, drawn from several allied groups.
…
At any rate, battles, raids and duels were intended more as a form of cathartic venting rather than a field of slaughter. In South Australia, an Indigenous Australian informant described what he considered a recent “glorious” (successful) battle. He defined it as successful because “nobody tumble down, only big one yabber [talk]. … My king … say ‘don’t throw spears, only yabber.’”
Even when battles involved very large numbers of warriors, they generally resulted in flesh wounds and very few, if any, deaths – although there were some very violent exceptions, depending on the intensity of the dispute. Raids were more usually fatal, and highly unpredictable (indeed, it was expected that women and children would suffer), but often only the targets were slain.

11·6 hours agoYou don’t need to throw tribes under the bus, you can call it sectarianism.
Tribes were actually pretty good at coexistence. Here in Australia before colonisation, tribes went to war sometimes, and often, nobody died. They had rules for how to conduct war that made it safe. Nations are way more violent than tribes.

1·7 hours agoI think the government should ban animal agriculture except the most vital medical and scientific uses. Customers should need to prove they have a serious medical disorder that can only be treated with meat in order to buy it. It should be regulated very tightly, the same as medical amphetamines. That’s how we reduce the harm suffered by the animals.
Damn. I hope she isn’t proud of that.

1·15 hours agoI agree with your first paragraph, but I’ve heard from experts in the field that human trafficking is already illegal, criminalising sex work just scares the victim into silence.
A lot of sex slaves here in Australia are immigrants who agreed to an illegal and unethical deal in order to flee their home countries. So when the cops bust a trafficking ring, what do they do? Send the girls back home to the regime they fled. That’s not helping. The government should give them a visa and let them work here if they want.
