  • Power? Control? Indoctrination and lack of critical thinking skills to escape it? Some kind of latent fear where they think if they don’t come out on top someone will, treating life as a zero sum game? There’s lots of potential reasons for people to act this way but it probably depends on the individual. I’m not comfortable painting with a super wide brush here because its dehumanizing, and these people are human. Reprehensible? Perhaps, but still human.

We can wax philosophic about why anyone does the things they do, but in the end it doesn’t matter why they do what they do, it matters what they do and what actions we can take to try and improve our own lives and the lives of the people we care about.

  • The right wing is afraid of a totalitarian dystopia?

Lol, no they’re not. They salivate at the thought of having a totalitarian dystopia where they’re on top. This is just more projection shit on their part. If anything, 15 minute cities deradicalize people by putting them in proximity to more diversity, make people friendlier by making them get to know their neighbors better, and financially better off because they’re not forced to buy and maintain a vehicle to live a healthy life.

But fascists can’t put the boot on your neck as easily if you have more wiggle room with money or solidarity with the working class, so of course they’re afraid of it.

  • In fairness to the FATE series (not that it particularly deserves it, it was just important to me growing up so i feel the need to defend it lol), it is adapting a visual novel that takes 30 hours for the first route alone, with more if you count unlimited blade works and heaven’s feel. A lot of what gets cut out is internal dialogue that provides the MC’s actual justifications/logic for his actions, making him a lot dumber in the adaptions. Additionally, there’s a lot of VERY JUSTIFIED censorship near the end of basically every fate VN route adaption which is why we get CGI dolphins all the time.

That said, neither Zero nor Apocrypha have this excuse, they were adapted from a light novels and not visual novels and to the best of my knowledge they’re pretty straight forward adaptions.

Totally unrelated but Zero and F/SN mutually spoil each other, which i’ve always thought was pretty funny. There’s no correct entry point because you’re literally incapable of watching both shows without one spoiling the other.

  • It depends on what qualifies as “watched”. If you mean “what was the first anime you watched all the way through” it would be some 2012 anime like Code Geass or something. The first anime I ever remember watching seasonally was Parasyte: The Maxim, because a friend of mine told me I might like it but it turned out there was only 1 episode of it out. That’s definitely when the infection my passion for anime began. I started watching everything I could get my hands on seasonally then. Parasyte is still a 10/10 show by the way, and it 2000% holds up today.

  • JJK is a no brainer here, other than that i’m looking forward to more Mataraku Maou-Sama and Bungou Stray Dogs. I have no self control, so I’ll also be watching every single bad isekai this season. Helck is crazy good as a manga but IDK if the anime will go for long enough to get into the interesting parts of it, so i’ll chalk that down as a “maybe when i hear how other people like it 6 episodes in”.

this time around the bad isekai looks to be “jitsu wa ore, saikyou da”, “Level 1 dakedo Unique Skill”, “The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior” for which i went with the english title because its long as hell, and of course the vending machine anime where the guy gets reincarnated as a vending machine.
