I would never recommend putting yourself at risk, but ghosting the person after lying that you’d like to see them again is just a dick move.

That’s called a “vacation.” Unfortunately, those generally come with other activities…

Sync going away – and now coming here, yay! If they’re giving their users the finger, and there’s a reasonable alternative, why would I stay? I was mainly there for the communities related to my interests (their size, not their mere existence), and those are present here and elsewhere in a growing capacity.

I did like AskReddit, though, and I’m not sure if Lemmy will ever get anything like that…

That’s a surprisingly difficult question. Everyone has different interests, so it’s hard to make a catch-all recommendation.

With that being said, I’ll go with Chrono Trigger. It’s a true classic with interesting characters, a solid enough story (that doesn’t outstay its welcome), easily approachable gameplay, and an amazing soundtrack. It easily ranks among my favorite games of all time.

If I’m visiting my parents, my mom insists on “visiting” – that is, either sitting and talking endlessly, playing boardgames, watching a movie together, or going out to do something. She has complained about us being unsociable for sitting and reading for an hour or two after spending the whole day doing things she wants.

My in-laws, on the other hand… don’t. There is absolutely no pressure to do anything. They are just happy to have us there, regardless of what we choose to do (or not do). Speaking from 13 years of experience with them: it’s awesome.

Deep Rock Galactic on my own (rock and stone!), Stardew Valley with my wife, and Boomerang Fu with my kids. I’m visiting family next week, so I’ll need to decide on something to play on my Deck.

It’s a toss-up on a couple of those. The Blues Brothers could easily make the list, as could Pulp Fiction, Terminator 2, Alien, Interstellar, and I’m sure there are many others. I will abandon what I’m doing to watch any one of these, if they come on, probably 90% of the time.

The question really needs to include “other than Firefly” to get other answers. Although, it’s much less common than it used to be… I’m getting old.

The Little Mermaid (2023). It was mediocre. My main issue is its pacing – it moved slooooooowly. Almost all of the underwater scenes were rather dark, as well, which took away some of the whimsy (I guess? Not sure what word is right here). Still, the pacing was the main negative.

Climbing onto the counter (at 2 or 3 years old) to get a Flintstone’s vitamin, because I liked the way they taste. Plot twist: what I actually ate was one of our dog’s epilepsy pills.

There’s nothing weird about those. Ramen may not lend itself to creamy sauces as Italian noodle dishes, but it’s not like it would change the flavor immensely. As for peanut butter and pepper, spicy peanut sauces (e.g. satay) are pretty common in Asian cuisine. You’re doing nothing unusual, just improving instant ramen.
