Chronic_AllTheThingsto Health - Resources and discussion for everything health-related@lemmy.world•Ex-CDC acting director calls RFK Jr’s false vaccine theories ‘cruel’English11·6 months agoI know a number of people at NIH and NIAID — amazing and incredibly skilled physicians, nurses, and healthcare workers across the gamut of disciplines — and I feel awful for them.
Imagine having worked your whole life, reach the pinnacle of your field at the most esteemed facility in the nation, possibly the world … only for a worms-in-a-human-suit buffoon and his fascist cabal, who collectively have negative amounts of knowledge on science and medicine, to tear it all down through sheer evil and greed.
Oof. Wish I’d remembered this before I ordered something the other day with Canada Post shipping.
Chronic_AllTheThingsto Canada•I am starting the process to immigrate to Canada from the US. Maybe unsurprisingly I find I have no ideas where I would like to live. I do enjoy mountains, and don't want to be in the heart of a city.2·6 months agoHonestly, Manitoba may not be a bad choice for you (unless the no mountains thing is a deal breaker).
- left leaning government for at least another three years
- $120k CAD salary will be very comfortable anywhere in the province
- cold as balls half the year (since you’re okay with cold)
- lots of farmland for locally grown food

But also has a left leaning government (for at least another three years, probably longer with our voting patterns) and low CoL. $120k CAD can be very comfortable here, even in Winnipeg.

In Winnipeg, you’d be a king.

Fortunately, we just entered the NDP cycle after almost a decade of PC horrors.

We’re safe from a willfully destructive government for at least another three years.
If you’re implying OP is mining data for guerilla marketing, their post and comment history doesn’t look like it.
Canada, 36M, can and do.

Chronic_AllTheThingsto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Martinet Stepping Away from Voicing MarioEnglish9·2 years agoI literally said “oh NOooo” aloud in a Mario-like cadence without even thinking when I read this headline. It’s sad to see him go, he was such a perfect fit for the job in every way.

If anyone has any metroidvania rec’s, I’m all ears. Already played both Ori games, HK, HAAK, Unbound. Haven’t found much else in the Nintendo Shop that appeals to me.
I love the way the RF totally transforms the ND look. I think it looks much better than the default roaster.
Chronic_AllTheThingsto Canada•A new COVID-19 variant has emerged. Here's what we know about EG.5 so far3·2 years agoI’m aware of the limitations I’m subjecting myself to, but I’d far rather live with them than live without smell, taste, clear lungs, or clear cognition.
In Canada, mask behaviours depend on the area. I think the larger cities are generally better in terms of people wearing masks and people leaving you alone for it.
I haven’t gotten any comments my small prairie town, but it’s an everyone-knows-someone-who-knows-you type of place. I think I’ve seen one other person wearing a mask in the past several months, but people generally know who I am, that I’m immunocompromised, and nobody says anything to me about it. That being said, I don’t really go out much and literally never go anywhere indoors without a fit tested N95 or better (with the one exception of my dentist, who still has a number of precautions in place).
But there’s a small city a half hour away where I’d legitimately fear being physically assaulted just for wearing a mask and minding my own business. It’s basically a 10 square mile slice of 'murica, rednecks and trumpsters included.
Completely unacceptable. MMR is one of the most successful vaccines in history — three doses provides lifetime protection and herd immunity with 90% coverage.
It absolutely should be an entry requirement at the border any enrollment in any public institution.
