Dammit, no! One of the things I liked about the plot changes was the possibility that Aerith would survive. Still, it’s been hinted that she still might and another character might bite it in her place, or possibly you have to choose.
Absolutely, there’s no guarantee this would be Aerith, as much as it hints at it. It could also be more scenes around “what if” or “what could be” given the role fate plays in the game. Could even be someone else. Difficult to be 100% certain at this point.
I’m glad they’re going to leave in those flashbacks where Cloud gets impaled by Sephiroth in the Nibelheim reactor…
