The developers of that curriculum are expecting the students to not answer “it’s not possible”. They are expecting them to answer “one of the pizzas was larger”. I promise you if you look at the provided answers that is the expected answer. It’s not a trick question, it’s a question to get the students to think critically and figure out what would make the situation possible.
