So, the animation doesn’t play in Jerboa, unless you open the image in a dedicated popup, and now I’m not sure which version is better. The non-animated one kinda feels more like C&H to me.

I think Jerboa plays gifs when you open them full screen (if that’s the right term), not if you have the post with the comments below.
Yeah, that’s what I was getting at.
It’s a bit hit or miss on the animation (gif) playing. Works on a couple of my iOS mobile apps, but not on another and definitely not on laptop browser… I’m with you on the non animated, I personally like it better.
There is an option in the Jerboa settings to autoplay gifs. I think it is disabled by default.
Solution: blink one eye at a time.
