However there were “barbarian” tribes near China named the Dzungar and the Xiongu, both of which are a bit like “Hun” and either of which are suggested to perhaps be the eastern side of that same tribe.

I thought Hun was a generic term like barbarian
No, it was a specific tribe.
However there were “barbarian” tribes near China named the Dzungar and the Xiongu, both of which are a bit like “Hun” and either of which are suggested to perhaps be the eastern side of that same tribe.
