The first one definitely had performance issues, but aside from that it was a pretty decent port. Hopefully they learned from that.

It was fine for me, as long as I used a controller. As soon as I started using a keyboard it would start lagging and eventually crash.

It had some optimization issues at launch. Two identically spec’d PC’s could have very different performance results for no apparent reason.

There were certain areas / situations where the framerate would just completely tank for whatever reason and afaik the release version was also pretty bad (I waited for a good sale though). One very notable one for me was when in the very beginning when you’re supposed to go to the village for the trial as soon as you got close to the gate my FPS went into the single digits. No idea why, inside of the village it was all fine again but the way there was unplayable. Luckily you’d just had to run to the entrance.

Today it will be me to go on everyone’s nerves with the obligatory
    "When Bloodborne?

At this rate I will eventually emulate it on my PC.

Every game eventually comes out for PC. Either via emulation, reverse engineering, leaks or official releases.

Whether the developer/publisher gets paid for it is up to them.

If I could bet a thousand eurobucks that it will be playable in some innacurate emulation form before a PC port is even announced, I would lol

I’m very excited. I loved the first one and was really disappointed when Forbidden West was not announced for PC right away. I guess I got spoiled by Microsoft launching game on PC same day.

Sony has also been rumored to be considering a PlayStation PC launcher

Xbox has one so I don’t see why not

Microsoft is still on Steam, despite having their store built in to the OS. Sony launching a store doesn’t inherently mean their games will disappear from other storefronts.

What if they add it and enable cross platform for at least their games and subscription library, without abandoning Steam? There are ways it could be a positive.

I didn’t say the games would disappear. That’s not my contention. I would be much angrier if that’s what they were planning. It adds another layer of bs that we already have to deal with. It makes the game launch take twice as long. You now have to install another application just to play the game you bought on STEAM. It’s hell on Linux systems because most launchers are garbage bloatware. I could keep going but for me, there is no positive that outweighs these negatives.

Having a PlayStation store on PC doesn’t imply that at all. Like I said, Microsoft’s stuff just works.

Sony doesn’t need to pull petty bullshit to drag people to their store. Cross purchase is plenty.

That DRM is currently Steam. Adding another launcher only adds to the headache PC users have to deal with: EA, Ubisoft, Rockstar, etc. Horizon ZD currently sits on GOG without DRM. Unfortunate that it’s the only one but it’s possible.

Just because it exists doesn’t mean we should put up with it.

People gave Larian shit for their launcher so they added a launch option to skip it. It wasn’t DRM, it was an added headache and they recognised that.

I don’t understand why people are willing to let companies do shit like this just because their sacred cow is on Steam. Have some goddamn principles.

You’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise considering all the comments on GOG that say it has DRM and the length of agreements you have to sign after install

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Sony is bringing Horizon Forbidden West to PC in early 2024 with help from in-house port developer Nixxes Software, which it acquired in 2021.

The news comes as Sony announces the “complete edition” of Horizon Forbidden West, which will also be available on the PS5 on October 5th.

This edition includes the base game, its Burning Shores expansion, and other add-ons like a digital art book and soundtrack.

The PC version will be available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Horizon Forbidden West picks up six months after the end of Horizon Zero Dawn, with an impressive world full of snowy mountains and jungle marshes to explore.

Sony first started using a PlayStation PC label in 2021, shortly after it acquired Nixxes.

I’ve already beat this on PS5, I wonder if it’s worth getting for the PC as well. I think I’ll enjoy the keyboard and mouse layout a bit more.

If the port is anything like ZD, K&M won’t work.
