To me, this was always going to happen.

Who could root for a national team that features the Tkachuk brothers? They’ve been awful for years. They’re the type of players that unapologetically ruin hockey.

It’s nice that others are catching up though!

For the record, the U.S. isn’t the only one. Brad Marchand is disgusting and proudly Canadian.

Hockey has had an asshole problem for a long time.

I love hockey, but it’s one of those sports where it’s really hard to make it to a high level if you aren’t at least a little wealthy

Have any of the players apologized for getting swept up in this? I’m assuming they are not all assholes.

I honestly feel a little bad for them as a group. FBI director flies out wanting to borrow some glory - are these euphoric kids supposed to stand up and object when a teammate invites him in? Or when the president calls, are they expected to object or call him out?

I assume that most of them just went along with it, the comments “absolutely” and “2 for 2” showed support of the women’s team. And now, they probably hope it’ll just blow over. I blame Patel and the president the most, which leads again to blaming the electorate and Congress that put/keep them in power

if these kids can’t be responsible enough to not turn into misogynists assholes upon light probing, they shouldn’t be representing anything

This EXACTLY the problem with Americans… taking a modicum of responsibility, like not laughing at misogynist “jokes”, is already too much to ask
