Uncuttable means bolt cutters can’t defeat them. No lock is going to be completely undefeatable.
At one point you’ll be more frustrated by the damage on your lock than the theft of your bike.
To quote a friend “nothing’s going to stop a drunk tradie with a cutting disk on their angle grinder”.
Yeah, if someone truly wants your bike, they can get it. Locking a bike somewhere in a city is about making the would-be thief look for an easier target. Outrunning your hiking partner, not the bear.
Yep. In the same way, bolt-on wheels are better than quick-release wheels in a city.
I’ve had five bikes stolen. I’ve got an Kryptonite NYC mini which has done me well since. But my bike at the moment is shit looking, it’s kinda just shit. I put all the nice parts from my busted carbon fibre racer onto an old apollo frame.
But totally, outrun the bear. Plus don’t leave it locked anywhere outside overnight. In Melbourne that a guaranteed theft these days.
the Kryptonite Diamond Standard came out on top of all tests/charts
Okay but were they able to cut it?
>10 cutting discs on an angle grinder. So not really reasonably.
Though they do mention that usually bike racks are easier to cut through than that anyways.
Wow that’s impressive!
This was great content. I wasn’t aware Kryptonite had a new lock in this segment and it looks awesome! Still pretty satisfied with my Hiplok chain for portability but if I get an e-bike the vultures will be circling…
