Reddit is Fun users are saying they are getting a popup saying along the lines of 1/7 it’s all over. Before there is more panic, are we missing some details?
I know the whole API access shenanigans and how around mid June and by July, they are just clamping down on everything. I have even voiced out concerns regarding the loss of Pushshift (btw I just want to say we do need some form of archival service for Lemmy too, which would make it singlehandedly the defacto Reddit replacement as no other “clone” considered or purposely avoided it as many clones are rightwing leaning). I did not read into Apollo dev’s exchange with Reddit, which confirms everything and explains the criticism that is exploding like a chain reaction.

Check out the apollo devs post that went viral. Reddit outlined that within a month, they are going to start charging for api access per request.
