Don’t let your cat outside unleashed and unsupervised. They are terrible for the local wildlife, but even that side, cats allowed access to the outdoors unsupervised live drastically shorter lives.

I live adjoining a small forested area. My new neighbor is putting up a fence for his two outside dogs and outside cat. I’m going to miss all the animals coming up to and into my yard. :(

Got some adorable foxes, possums, deer, raccoons, squirrels, and skunks. Even a bear one time!

Yesterday, I had a leaflet in my mailbox, with information about a cat missing.
Two weeks ago, someone hung up a sheet of paper in the nearest street with their cat missing. As did someone two months ago.
I think we’re now up to five or six cats missing this year in total.

I have no idea, in what range people search for their cats, but since this is basically my only exposure to them, it feels like more cats go missing than exist in the first place. 🫠

Drastically? The family cat I had growing up only came home for food and out of boredom. He lived to be 14 and only died because of a tumor.

Translation: “I want the door open.”

Moments later… “And this one too.”
