The CBS News/YouGov poll, conducted between Oct. 1 and Oct. 3 among 2,441 adults, found that 39% of respondents believe Trump and congressional Republicans deserve the most blame for the shutdown. Thirty percent of respondents blame Democrats more, and 31% blame both equally.
The poll also found that 52% of respondents disapprove of the way Trump is handling the shutdown. Fifty-two percent also disapprove of the way congressional Republicans are handling it.
Meanwhile, 49% percent of respondents disapprove of the way Democrats in Congress are handling the shutdown.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.3 percentage points.

The polls are kinda dumb, and at the end of the day it kind of is both at fault-- and ya know what, honestly it’s to be expected and in some cases, probably for the best. We haven’t had a functioning government in a while and at least this way, ICE doesn’t even get paid (although they’re essential workers, for some reason, so they get back pay if we ever go back to funding).
My only beef with Dems here is… why healthcare? There’s a thousand and one better ways to message this shutdown, but no, we’re going to go with Biden era subsidies set to expire. Is it because it’s something they think will have legs with a GOP compromise? It sure as hell doesn’t resonate with the base that sees fascism before our very eyes.
