  • Oh so many things, from savory hotdogs in a fresh bun, curry bread, melon bread, cream filled puff balls, honey crisp Texas toast, you name it. It’s a little pricey in the US but when I stayed in Japan, there was a tiny hole in the wall right next door that sold them for 150 yen a piece. It sustained us the whole month, every morning.

  • Was thinking about this all night after hearing the statement before bed. It reminds me of a right wing ex-family friend that blamed antifa and Soros for everything. Right wingers genuinely think there is a Soros backed terrorist organization called Antifa similar to the Proud Boys, etc (which actually exist) that cause everything they hate.

At the time he was explaining this, it was in regards to how all the college kids protesting Gaza “had the same tents” (aka the cheapest tents on Amazon lol) and that Antifa was backing them. Basically, it’s the propaganda boogyman they’ve used for a few years now.

But here’s what I’m trying to figure out … What happens when you chase after the boogyman? Sure the people in charge are just using it as an excuse to be anyone they don’t like, but if you’re a true believer like the followers, what will constitute evidence of being Antifa? Owning a fucking tent?

  • Hm… so, I’ve seen conservative faculty before, and no, it’s not great because you get some pretty wild takes. It’s especially true of culturally conservative types (but less so of fiscal conservatives, they usually just have weirdly biased and racist takes).

First, consider the type of ideology – if you get past the anti-science types that reject all evidence, conservatives who try to listen to evidence do some pretty wild mental gymnastics to maintain contradictions between science and religion. E.g. I knew a women who believed in Noah’s ark but also was in psychology. To her, it was a bottleneck in human genetics, but like, c’mon. Bottlenecks are usually a few hundred, not a single family, lol.

This isn’t so bad in some fields, but in social sciences it really falls apart because philosophically, you’re talking about determinism and the concept of God’s given free will, personal responsibility, etc, which gets challenged when your science is literally saying these behaviors are a result of environmental and genetic reasons. Sociology, criminology, psychology, all these make no sense at the core when you apply conservative ideology.

Laptop is a misnomer, especially gaming ones, because they get too hot to be in your lap. Workstations, notebooks, Ultrabooks, etc, all different classifications.

Upside, if you do use it on your lap, it doubles as birth control. (Joke, please do not do this).

  • Oh no, that’s literally today’s lecture on ADHD and strengths based pedagogy, haha.

Real talk tho, best strategy is to pair up with your compliment. Plus, one persons “impulsive” is another person’s “initiative” so if you’re blessed with that flavor of ADHD, you might actually be a good leader someday.

  • In my experience, it’s also just… normal looking people doing kinda weird poses while you draw, paint or whatever.

Like, man, I’m not turned on by this 60 year old man with a stick changing his position every minute for gesture drawing. In fact, it’s quite literally the opposite of a pole dancer!
