The popular Joffre Lakes Provincial Park will remain closed for another week as negotiations continue between the B.C. government and the two First Nations that abruptly paused public access last month.

To be honest though the amount of tourism buses there and the sheer number of people makes me think it’s getting way too popular for its own good. We wanted a quiet hike and that would definitely not have been one.
Does anyone have info on why the area was shut down? Locals told us just ‘they want to harvest or something in there’.
