What the fuck is wrong with the UK Government?
They are fascist, they are basically a two party system (sometimes three) and still keep the idea that they are still colonisers and so want to keep all the power and trans people are a threat to that. Also TERFs have a lot of power there, which is why people should stop giving money to people like Rowling.
Just like the US they want trans people dead, even kids, because it’s more important for a semblance of ‘normality’ than actually allowing people to live how they wish/need to.
Honestly at this point though we need to start taking the fight to them directly until they either give us what we want or disband and we can replace them with an actually good system that takes care of all.
It’s a fascist outlook, yes. In addition to the drive for some cooked-up notion of “normal” vs “abnormal”, it’s also the argument that “some people are too expensive to let live,” which the Nazis also made. Trans people unfortunately fall into both of these categories of people-who-should-not-be. Plus it’s the fascist impulse to direct the public to blame their woes on some chosen group that can’t defend themselves. It’s a tragedy how the Labour Party has become just another neoliberal party marching towards fascism.
Tragic, yes, but unsurprising, Any power comfortable enough and close to center enough will eventually go right.
