McDonald’s on Thursday reported mixed quarterly results as its U.S. same-store sales fell for the second straight quarter, posting their largest domestic decline since the onset of the Covid pandemic.

McDonald’s U.S. same-store sales shrank 3.6% as the chain faced bad weather and a more cautious consumer. That drop is the worst in McDonald’s home market since the 8.7% plunge during the second quarter of 2020, when states imposed lockdowns to slow the spread of Covid.

Analysts surveyed by StreetAccount were expecting the company to report domestic same-store sales declines of 1.7% for the first quarter.

    The same McDonalds that hosted the orange turdbag at the drive through. They ain’t getting my money and haven’t since. The rich orgs clearly feel bold enough to brag about

    How much money they make from you and;

    They enable a facist administration, and;

    They will use the money made from you to lobby and ensure employees get little respect or wage and;

    They have made your product smaller, crappier, and more expensive.

    Listen to them when they brag and stop giving them money so so this.

    Also fast food used to be cheap, now most Americans complain it’s getting ridiculously expensive. And this was happening before dumb Trump took over.

      Nothing is cheap anymore.

      Hunter Thompson’s book “Hell’s Angels” was published in 1967. At the time, the author pointed out that a biker could work six months as a Union stevedore and earn enough to live on the road for two years. In those days a part time waitress could make enough to support herself and her boy friend.

        In the early 80’s my mom left my abusive father, with 3 kids in tow, and managed to buy a (shitty) car, rent a (shitty) house, and feed all three of us with a waitress job at Golden fucking Corral (paying for child care while she was at work, too!), and all the while not getting a dime in support from dear alcoholic dad. It wasn’t easy but it was possible. That’s no longer true.

        I have watched the world become impossible for younger people to thrive in, and it’s really depressing.

          It’s really important to have these kinds of abilities in order to have a functioning society as well. In the current situation, everything has to go perfectly for children to even have a mediocre upbringing. Their mom and their dad have to both be pretty well-educated and work jobs good enough to afford the increasingly out of control costs of living.

          If a single parent has the ability with a mediocre job to fund a decent household, it makes it much easier to bear the usual societal ills such as one or the other parent not being dependable.

      The bacon, egg, and cheese bagel combo still rocks but it’s like $12 now. McDonald’s breakfast was about $6 here five years ago.

    Maybe if they didn’t charge ridiculous prices.

    6 bucks for a ‘large’ fry that might contain a single potatoes worth of fries.

    Sandwiches for $4 that are barely worth $2.

      Hey now. McDonald’s is a very useful resource, e.g. if you are on a road trip far from home and need to stop somewhere to take leak.

      What, food? I wouldn’t know anything about that.

    Want business? Maybe rediscover how to cook a fucking egg past 10:30am.

    Just kidding, even if you did that I’d still buy food anywhere else.

    If it wasn’t for my kids begging for McDs. I would never go there, maybe for breakfast rarely. But fuck that place man. It’s the same trash for decades.

      I think breakfast is the best thing going for Macdonalds. I just stopped there and it was $12 for a meal. It’s barely above dog food and they want to charge $12…

      The same trash, but now in smaller portion sizes for more money! Great, eh!

      The ones around me barely even employ any front-facing staff, so they also aren’t providing as many jobs to the local economy. And their seating is uncomfortable. All around just a horrible, overpriced experience for shite food.

      I’m in the same boat as you: I only go there once a year for a school fund-raiser because my kids really want to. There’s not even anything I find appealing to eat there, so I don’t usually get anything.

        Tell them no of course lmao. I’ll get them McDs maybe once or twice a month. They usually get one day out of the month to go to McDs. Maybe another if they did something good at school or around the house.

        Cutting out something completely isn’t the best practice, because when they finally do get freedom of choice. They over indulge. Same thing I do with soda. They’ll get a 12 pack a month of their favorite but that’s it.

            Those warnings are everywhere in California.

            Also, just about any fish you eat has mercury in it. That’s just eating fish.

            All that said, McDonald’s food is shit.

            I used to eat their breakfast and that likely has real eggs and stuff, but even when I ate it, it was often burnt or crappy in some way and certainly not worth the price.
