Autism and other personality disorders don’t make you smarter or faster, either…
Ewww to “I’m a bitch”/“I’m an asshole” as a personality trait

Ok so I went digging and found some things. It must not have been ProPublica piece but it WAS widely reported -

I think whether that episode is warranted really depends on the vibe of the rest of the show. Lore doesn’t matter for most of them but it matters a LOT for others. Like Star Trek wasn’t only about the lore, but can you imagine the fandom without it?
Ah, ok. I’m guessing the law is that pay cards can’t be the only option then
glimse@lemmy.worldto Television@piefed.social•Opinion: Small screen, big investment: TV episodes have become way too long2·3 days agoAlas, I have not. But that’s an early episode, were Bill and Frank are doing something that establishes their characters or motivations? Brings them closer together? Filler episodes are more like irrelevant sidetracks so unless they went to the beach to get a break from the zombies, I don’t think that necessarily fits the definition.
I’ve never heard of McDonald’s employees getting paid in preloaded cards, is that true? I know plenty of people do it to avoid taxes but McDonald’s is a major employer and that’s pretty damn illegal
glimse@lemmy.worldto Television@piefed.social•Opinion: Small screen, big investment: TV episodes have become way too long3·3 days agoI know the exact kind of episode you mean but a filler episode is the exact opposite, it’s an episode that doesn’t advance the plot in any way.
I tried to find a term for an episode that can’t stand on its own but came up short so I’d like to propose a term:
Bridge Episodes.
An episode that is useless without the episodes connected to either side.

glimse@lemmy.worldto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Graphical fidelity in games has plateaued, and that is good.English2·3 days agoThat is completely untrue, we are in a plateue but it’s definitely not the final one. Frame Gen is gimmicky for sure but hardware has a long history of gimmicks so it’s not a sign of the end or anything - and the related technology of “AI” upscaling is already very good
And as much as I don’t like it, if graphics are rendered on a supercomputer and streamed to users, the quality can skyrocket - that is, assuming they can afford it.
glimse@lemmy.worldto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Graphical fidelity in games has plateaued, and that is good.English1·3 days agoI think the unpopular opinion here is specifically that the graphics plateue is a good thing, though I do agree with you that OP’s justification for it isn’t the best
glimse@lemmy.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Trump Congratulates Leader of English-Speaking Country for His Good EnglishEnglish51·4 days agoAt my high school, if you were a senior with a job (and it wouldn’t affect your graduation) you could take a “work program” class which was supposed to be about personal finance and career goals. But the teacher sucked and every Friday, we’d watch a show tangentially related to jobs. That show? The Apprentice.
She thought Trump was a good businessman and we could learn some lessons. We were also assigned Art Of The Deal. She was not thrilled that we weren’t into it.
And let me tell you, anyone who watches that show and reads his book then still walks away thinking Trump is anything but a bumbling idiot is a goddamn fool.
I’ve hated this dude for 20 years.

And yet there’s people whose autism is severely debilitating…
I’m certainly not saying autism makes you stupid but people diagnosed with it have a huge range of intelligence so it’s unfair to say it “makes you smarter” IMO. There’s no proof of causation even if it often does correlate
