Diversity is nice and it’s unfortunate we live in a world where companies have to even make announcements like this. The controversy in these comments alone show the sad state of this whole “issue-that-shouldnt-be-one-but-it-is-because-humans-suck.”
Unfortunately most of the time it’s just platitudes and patting each other on the back without actually addressing any problems.
Hey! Our name is “Linux Foundation”. Let’s focus on something else because why not!?
We have $177 million so spending “just 3.4% of our money on Linux” is enough, don’t you think, guys? Guys?
Such a dumb criticism of the foundation. Their stated goal is to “standardize Linux and support open source development”. So yeah, they support open source projects aside from Linux, who would’ve thunk it? And the Linux kernel doesn’t seem to suffer from a lack of funding.
They don’t care about Linux for a long time now. They don’t even use Linux.
Why focusing on meritocracy to produce a better result, when you can politicize technologies and focus on people feelings, sexuality, propaganda, that sure will help to select the best engineers.

Baffling that the suggestion that maybe minorities being harassed/made to feel unsafe in the workplace might influence their performance and therefore the quality of open source software is so controversial.
Let me guess, you’re a white dude. We have the luxury of being able to ignore “politics”. For other people their existence is a political question and affects every aspect of their life. Maybe we should do something about that. But what do I know I’m just a snowflake who is offended by everything, right?
