You should never feed birds bread because it does not have the nutrients they need to stay healthy, feed them bird seed instead. Crows are actually often fond of dog food too.
Is there a CrowBro magazine or community out there? I loved that subreddit.
My mom left some plain potato chips at my place shortly after I moved in. I wasn’t going to eat them, so every few days, when I saw some crows sitting on the telephone line in the backyard, I’d leave a chip or two so they’d like me. But I knew it wasn’t healthy for them so when the bag ran out, I got some raw unsalted cashews and started leaving those instead. The crows stopped coming to my backyard almost immediately. I know the nuts and seeds are healthier, but I think they only wanted the tasty food with no nutritional content. Same, crows. Same.
In this case, raw is a misnomer. The packaging on the cashews says raw, but that just means they haven’t been roasted. They were still steamed, to neutralize the poison.
They can be particular and not all crows like the same stuff. A little treat now and then probably isn’t going to kill them, but don’t feed them bread regularly.
Its important to confirm any new food you wanna feed anything is safe for it to consume. If you have a digital assistant, just ask it beforehand or look it up. Please don’t feed things anything willy-nilly
This is wrong!

Raw cashews are poisonous though, at least to humans. Maybe those crows were far smarter than you think.

100%, I did look this stuff up before I did anything.
Ah k, wasn’t clear to me you were checking. Good human
a) I wouldn’t let a crow criticize my terrible diet choices, I can respect theirs b)crowbros was awesome
Crows need meat, not seeds.
The ravens crave flesh
Not like city crows eat bread all the time anyway because it’s surely not something that’s easily found in every trash container.
