ThinkPad T530. I’ve bought a newer one but the build quality is so shite compared to the old one so I don’t use it.
I wanna upgrade but I seriously can’t find a better laptop
my laptop is a 2021 MBA. I am happy enough with it. I use it a LOT.
I have like eight hundred of those
Welcome to Lemmy!
Please elaborate on your eight hundred laptops.
I would describe them as small, battery-powered computers
What circumstances led you to acquire eight hundred laptops?

I don’t have any. And remember: “Sharing is caring” 😉
Lenovo Legion 2024, i7, nv4060, 32GB RAM.
Best laptop I’ve ever bought.
First thing I did after opening the box was nuke the harddrive and install linux mint. Everything worked out of the box, including the Lenovo hotkeys for changing between cooling/performance schemas.Looks neat !
It is. Powerful enough for everything I do and then some, while at the same time being surprisingly lightweight and portable for when I’m out and about.
An old surface pro with no functional battery. It’s fine. It was very cheap second hand.
LOL, same! I’ve got a Surface Pro 4, which has become a perfect example of [email protected]. It still boots fine, though, which is impressive.
A Lenovo 2in1, bought without much research after my previous device died unexpectedly
It’s decent and it has fewer issues than my old ones
Things I want to change next time
- can’t upgrade the RAM on this one, and it’s just barely enough these days
- I barely use the touchscreen, and a separate tablet would have been better
Framework 16 with a 7840HS and the RX 7700S GPU module. Quite happy, although it can get pretty loud under heavy load. The real benefits will come with time, of course, as the Framework’s strengths are in repairability and upgradeability.
Still waiting for the liquid metal replacement to the phase change pad. There has been reports of overheating issues for a long time now and Framework finally acknowledged it.
I don’t have a laptop.
2011 macbook air with Linux Mint. I’m very happy with it, the lil thing is a champ.
Lenovo ThinkPad T495. It is definitely not an IBM ThinkPad 😕 But it does the job well enough that I can’t motivate an upgrade.
Second that notion about not being IBM. Currently on a quite new Carbon X1 (from '24), because my previous one (five years old) started having issues (internal monitor flickering, staying black for some time, keyboard falling apart…), which was in turn a replacement for a T430s. That was preceeded by a T400s. The T4x0s still run without issue, so I found quite the drop in quality from the Ts to the X1s, especially the keyboard.
All of those of course were no match for my trusty old T43, that was one beast of a machine.
MBP 2019, i9, Radeon Pro 5500M, 32GB RAM.
Still going strong. It also doubles as a space heater.
Currently with a T480s. I don’t really use it much, I’m on my desktop most of the time, but it does the job.
Starlabs star book very happy with it. Best linux laptop to date ive purchased. Havent tried framework.
16 inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chip. Got it from work and use it for both work and for myself. Really happy with it.
Lenovo IdeaPad Y500, bought in 2017. I’ve added an SSD at some point and it’s still chugging along, but it’s starting to show its age.
