Since I’ve been mostly using #LibreWolf @librewolf and Tor Browser @torproject anyway, and almost never plain #Firefox, it wasn’t a big deal to say goodbye and to delete Firefox from all devices today.
The new “Terms of Use” and the modified privacy notice have crossed a red line, I do no longer give Mozilla the benefit of doubt.

TBH I have no idea why somebody would so persistently and patiently work on discrediting and sinking their own flagship.
Does librewolf or any other alternatives offer syncing between devices? I know it’s not a great thing for privacy, but I find it really helpful for work to have easy access to different tabs, passwords and stuff between my phone, laptop and desktop. I would love to switch from mozilla, but that’s what’s currently keeping me…
@Acamon
Aaaand i used a search engine for you: https://librewolf.net/docs/faq/#can-i-use-firefox-sync-with-librewolf-is-it-safe-to-do-so
But you can even self host your own sync server: https://github.com/mozilla-services/syncserver
@katzenberger
You’re awesome! Thanks. That’s wild that your can host your own syncsever, the community is brilliant.
Sometimes it’s nice to talk to other people 🤷♀️
Could just install a password manager. Bitwarden or Keepass+ syncthing
That’s good for passwords, but it’s also the syncing of tabs and search history and stuff. When I’m working on my laptop I want to be able to easily find the random journal article I had open on my desktop.
I appreciate the convenience of cloud history is at odds with privacy. But being able to selfhost a syncing server, or to keep a private log on a cloud storage space that only my devices had access to should be possible… But it’s probably not a priority for many folks.
Librewolf does, though you have to enable it first. Work fine for me. Never really had an issue with it.
@Acamon
I do not use any syncing features, sorry, can’t say.
