Bullshit. I love my house. I’ve put an immeasurable amount of time, energy, and emotion into my property. Right now, it’s worth about $500k. There is no amount of money that the government, or anyone else, could offer me that would make me sell. I’m not exaggerating. They could offer $500M on my $500k house, and I’ll tell them to pound sand. A house isn’t just an investment; in my case, I couldn’t care less what it’s worth. It’s my home, and you’ll never pry it away from me while I’m still breathing.

I mean, with 500m, I’d just pay a company to pick up the house and move it lol.

With $500M you could run for office and scuttle the project, then enrich yourself far beyond your initial investment.

The area is a thing though. I own a small house in a lower middle-class hood. Despite not being in a well-to-do area, I love it. People aren’t snotty, there’s a mix of peoples, a dozen outdoor activities close, even within walking distance, on the edge of town without being too far from retail needs. I’d hate to leave.

Got me there! They’re already putting in a monster development in the woods. It’s far from all torn up, but I was sad as hell to round the corner of the trail and see that shit. Talked to a hunter who pointed out where even more is getting cut.

One good thing; Being a huge chunk of the local watershed I was worried about the ecology. They’re building the largest retention pond I’ve ever seen. Ever. Deep as well. We might actually seen an improvement in some animal populations, as long as the assholes don’t fence it off.

Left the best paying job of my life since I wouldn’t move. TBF, they needed my position available to come into the office now and again. They even offered $10K to move, just can’t do it.
