    This quib was likely meant as a joke, but it is absolutely true. In doing our job, we are serving somebody at the end of the day.

      So true! One of the main things I end up helping junior scientists with is their communication and presentation skills. Our “customers” are the supervisors, other groups, and regulatory agencies that consume the data we generate. Too many people think that if they are super experts in their field, that’s the key to success. However, the really successful ones are those that can help the powers that be actually understand what the hell you are doing and why.
