This is just their own software. I’ve seen people using it just fine with OBS.

Doesn’t mean this isn’t a solid example of enshittification though.

You can also buy a (used) Elgato Cam Link and use the HDMI Out of your cam to plug your DSLR into a USB-A as a Webcam.

If you head to Canon’s site, provide a name and email, and manage to grab the EOS Webcam utility when Canon’s servers are not failing, you can connect one camera, with one default scene, at 720p, 30 frames per second and adjust everything on the camera itself if you need to. Should you pay $5 per month, or $50 per year, you can unlock EOS Webcam Utility Pro (PDF link), which provides full 60 fps video

My doctor only charges me $3/month to play with myself. No, I mean, I do the pole polishing. To my self. My pole. Grr, this joke is not working. Not working at all!

Even then. Its a $900 camera and theyve proven theres no real reason outside of greed it cant do better.

Its greed especially because they are charging you to use your own equipment locally, not using their servers or anything

This is a bit silly and short sighted is it not? You own the device you should have the choice to use it at its full potential you dont have to but you have the right to.

lol, you can’t force people to want things, i have been shooting slr cameras since te 80s, and thats the reason i on a dslr now, don’t give a shit about webcam calls, done that twice in my life
