The decision by the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, this week to resign as head of the Liberal party has set in motion a leadership race against the backdrop of a looming general election, which will be held amid political turmoil triggered by Donald Trump’s “America first” economic nationalism. It has also given Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, an opportunity to inject himself into yet another country’s political turmoil.

Since Trudeau’s resignation on Monday, Musk has posted repeatedly about Canadian politics on X – the platform formerly known as Twitter he bought in 2022 for $44bn. He has praised clips of Pierre Poilievre, the leader of Canada’s Conservative party, while relishing in Trudeau’s downfall and engaging with rightwing Canadian influencers.

“Girl, you’re not the governor (sic) of Canada anymore, so doesn’t matter what you say,” Musk tweeted in response in the middle of the night on Tuesday.

He is a billionaire. He is a nation unto himself. What it says on his passport, at this point, is irrelevant.

In Westernized nations no one is forced to give up their citizenship in one nation to vote in another.

Dual citizenship guarantees one with all the benefits of both nations.

The USA doesn’t recognize dual cotizenship with all nations for example you can have Mexican citizenship or US citizenship you cannot have both but you can be a dual US/UK citizen. This is because America is still quite racist.

If you become a naturalized citizen they make you renounce other citizenships.

You have to have parents from 2 countries who have 2 separate citizenships to be a dual.

okay. just going off the united states. where he naturalized. where you have to renounce your prior nation of citizenship, and where people don’t get to have more that two citizenships past 18. guess we’re not westernized. and also the rules still don’t apply to the world’s richest dickhead

            Yes, I didn’t say you couldn’t.

I said if you apply for a US citizenship, they make you renounce your other citizenships.

In Muskrats case that would be SA and Canada.
