I’m moving internationally in the next few months, and am coming to realize I have never moved with plants! Is it possible to move with my plants? I imagine I have to consider things like quarantine and such, but I have a snake plant that I basically raised from the dead and have had for seven years so the idea of leaving him behind makes me all kinds of sad. Do I need to just gift them to other plant moms?
You also have to consider that some countries will forbid moving live plants because of invasive species risk. I am 90% sure the best solution is to gift to your relatives and neighbors. You also probably going to have so many priorities to work on before the plants.
I’m sorry to say it, but generally you need permits and such to move plants. You should find another home for them.
You can take cuttings of each if possible, and then properly package and seal them.
This way, they are protected and have a smaller form factor.
Here’s how you do it, I made a post :) https://slrpnk.net/post/15197450
Propagating plants is different for each one. I’d recommend taking multiple cuttings each and then gifting the original plants someone you like. Here’s a guide on how to take the according cuttings.
If you move a lot, consider semi-hydro, as this method just requires pulling away loose clay balls instead of dirt that clings onto the fine root structure. Here is how it looks like if you would repot or transport it:

Depends on the country from / to, but unfortunately yeah it’s usually way easier to just gift them.
