redhat.wd5.myworkdayjobs.comAbout the job The Fedora Project Leader is accountable for the ongoing success of the Fedora Project and the health and growth of its contributor community and user base. They lead by inspiration and influence towards Fedora’s vision of a world where everyone benefits from free and open source software built by welcoming and inclusive communities. They listen to community needs and interests, articulate Project vision and strategy, and champion important initiatives. As part of the Linux organization at Red Hat, they collaborate with upstream and downstream projects to maximize everything Fedora brings to our entire software ecosystem. What you will do Lead transformational change in Fedora, making Fedora a driver and beneficiary of evolution in the Open Source world. Work with appointed Fedora leads, Fedora Council, and other Fedora bodies to build consensus, evolve the project together, bring cooperative clarity to all community members, and expand the ecosystem through growing contributions. Develop and drive short, medium, and long term goals for the Fedora Project with the input of the Fedora Council, Red Hat Engineering & BU leads, and community at large. Lead by example in community in both technical (experimentation, evolution, and innovation) and social (constructive, empathetic, inclusive) spheres. Represent Fedora to the press and the public, including speaking at conferences, participating in interviews, and appearing on podcasts. What you will bring Passion for Linux, for free and open source software, and for the Fedora community. Alignment with Fedora’s “Four Foundations”: Freedom, Friends, Features, and First. Technical understanding of Linux distributions, their various parts, and how a project like Fedora works to integrate upstream change and address downstream needs. The executive leadership, diplomatic, and change management skills to guide diverse groups of stakeholders through two major release cycles each year. Extensive experience as an active member of the Fedora community or a comparable open source community project. Past experiences that demonstrate a general ability to help people with different interests to work together is essential. Compassion, empathy, and patience. Ability to be wrong or right with grace. Exceptional English language communication abilities in both written and verbal form. New ideas, new ways of doing things, a willingness to experiment. The salary range for this position is $127,890.00 - $211,180.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications. Pay Transparency Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
